One Man's Story       Achievers     Are You Dyslexic?

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a different way of thinking.  Most people with dyslexia think in pictures not words.  This means that they are always thinking at a great speed, non-sequentially and in a naturally organic way.

Having to slow down for those people who do not have dyslexia can cause problems for the dyslexic.  These may include concentration, reading and transferring thoughts onto paper.

When thinking naturally people with dyslexia think visually and spatially.  They have multiple perceptions  and excellent overview capabilities and intuitive skills.

Self-limiting beliefs have been created in adult dyslexics by the educational system through a lack of understanding of dyslexia.  A negative pre-supposition has prevented the recognition of the unique skills possessed by adult dyslexic people - preventing those skills from being released for the benefit of society, commerce, industry and the individual's life and well being.

WORDS

I'm seven, and I'm dead bright,

But words give me a fright.

Words are bullies.

Sneaky things.  They gabble and lie.

Sometimes trying to understand

Them makes me cry.  Words hurt.

Words are all  over the place.

They get shoved in my face.

I don't know why but

Words make me cry.

I wish words were things

You could hug,

Or that they smelt nice.

I wish they came in bottles

Like fizzy-drinks, or melted

Like ice cream.  But they don't.

Words are mean.  they bully me.

Lock me away

From what I want to say.

I can't even ask for help,

And I'm only seven

(and a bit)

Words spread nasty gossip.

They must.  Otherwise why

Would people think I'm thick?
